• God created all things
    • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (And everything in it)(Genesis 1:1)
  • We rejected His lordship and released a curse of sin upon ourselves leading us to death and keeping us from Him
    • “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:80)
  • He loved us enough to leave his Heavenly throne and die a human’s death so that our relationship could be restored and we could have eternal life with Him.
    • “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

What is Love?

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet.
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Not envying or boasting
  • Not being arrogant or rude
  • Not being selfish or prideful
  • Not encouraging wrongdoing but righteousness and truth
  • Enduring and persisting
  • Not giving up

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.“ (1 Corinthians 13:13)

(Verse 3)

  • To abstain from all sexual immorality, impurity or greed

(Verses 4)

  • To abstain from obscenity, foolish talk and joking, but instead trade it for thanksgiving

(Verses 5-14)

  • Paul tells us that there is no inheritance in the kingdom for those who live in such ways, and that we are supposed to not become partners with those who seek to deceive us and whom live in the ‘fruitless deeds of darkness’.
  • We are in fact commanded to expose the darkness with the light of Christ who is truth.

(Verses 15-20)

  • He goes on to command us to live wisely, and determined to make every moment count, and to not be foolish but instead to understand the will of the Lord.
  • We are not meant to be filled with wine, but with the Spirit.
  • This will lead to a song of thanksgiving to God that honors Him
